Charles de Gaulle Airport
Paris
On way to India I passed through Paris and for the second time I had the same irritating experience. A bus (as in this picture) took us from the plane and went around the airport for about 30 minutes. It delivered us to a gate, from which we took another but that delivered us after 30 minutes to the same gate.

Chennai Airport
Arrival in Chennai
I arrived in Chennai at 1 AM, but at the exit, as usual, there were many people waiting. In particular you can see the drivers sent to the airport to pick up the westerners who would otherwise be lost.

My driver
Here is the driver waiting to take me from the airport to the hotel.

Hotel room
At the hotel
The hotel (Marriott Courtyard) has opened just one week prior to my arrival. You can see that it looks new and fresh.

This is a picture from my hotel room.

Motorcycles
What you do not see in this picture is the new and large office building were we met some of our Indian clients.

Remember those large parking spaces in US, which inevitably appear next to large office buildings? In stead, here you see these large motorcycle parking lots. What you see here is about one third of the whole lot.

Bangalore from the plane
The second day here I flew from Chennai to Bangalore. Bangalore has about 5 million people.

I took this picture from the plane, as we were preparing to land. After a few minutes I heard the flight attendant announcing that it is forbidden to take pictures close to the airport (the airport is also used by the military).

Bangalore
Waiting in Bangalore
In the first 48 hours in India I had about four hours of sleep. Here perhaps I was sleeping while standing.

We were waiting to meet Rich Cronheim, who was comming from Mumbai.

Sunidh
My colleague Sunidh looked more fresh and alert then me. After all he had an extra day in which he could rest.

New building in Bangalore
Electronic City, Bangalore
This place - Electronic City - in Bangalore may rival any technology park in US. It has beautiful landscaping and modern buildings and it expands at an amzing rate.

This futuristic building was not even started in April 2005 (last time I was there). Now it's already partially used.

Landscaping
It is said that any new job in the booming software outsourcing industry in India brings in fact a number of other jobs in the supporting infrastructure.

Here is an example: these people are employed to care for the lanscaping in Electronic City, Bangalore. Looks like they are doing a good job.
